Tip From Our Instructors: Using Task Data Display and Text Annotations in Asta Powerproject

To communicate project data effectively, it is often desirable to display task information next to the bars. Asta Powerproject provides for this functionality through both Task Data Display and Text Annotations. These two options can be used on their own or in conjunction with one another. The choice depends on what, and how much, data the user wants to show.

Option 1: Using Task Data Display to show Finish Date and other task information as needed. One data field per location – Left, Right or Task – may be selected.

When displaying dates via this option, showing time is mandatory.

Option 2: Using Text Annotations to display Task Name and Finish Date. More than one data item can be displayed in the same position when using this option. Text Annotations can be linked to specific tasks so that they move and evolve with those tasks. In addition, they can be set to appear next to a single task, all tasks, or only tasks that meet certain filter criteria.

Note that the time is not displayed when using this option.

Option 3:
Combine both options to display Unique Task ID in the Task Data Display left position and, using Text Annotations, the Task Name and Finish to the right of each bar.

Asta Powerproject provides these flexible, customizable options so that users may more effectively communicate project and task data with other project stakeholders and participants.
